Manual transmission trucks are a thing of the past, which is why you should buy one. Right now. Like this F250, for example, which comes equipped with a four speed mated to a 360 V8. Sounds fun.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I like the look of these F250s a lot. Trucks like this one are a cheap way to get your hands on some vintage American iron with a manual transmission and a big V8 under the hood. I like that.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. I remember seeing this generation of Fords on the road when they were brand new, from the back seat of my parents’ Corolla. I still think they’re cool, and they remind me of simple, happy, responsibility-free times full of legos and playdoh. Good stuff. Just don’t eat the playdoh - it’s very salty. I’d love to row the gears on this thing, I’m sure it’s fun to play with the torque curve of that giant 7.3 diesel.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It’s big, it’s purple, and it looks like someone slapped a truck bed onto an old cement mixer. Would I want to own it? Absolutely not. Would I drive it around for a week? Fuck yeah.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I don’t understand why these aren’t expensive yet. They’re quirky and cute like a vintage picture of hippie chicks at Woodstock. That said, this one is a little crusty - just like all of those cute hippies are now.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It’s a lifted Samurai on massive tires. Can that little engine even rotate those things? Who cares. I’m sure it’s horrifying on the highway but I bet this little thing would embarrass even the cockiest Jeep owners on the trail.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Nice patina on this one. There’s only one shot of the interior and it’s pretty bad, but the gauges look like they’re in nice condition. This is the kind of thing I’d love to drive to work on a day to day. Take the back roads. Go slow. Breath in some exhaust fumes. Sounds dreamy...

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

BIG BLOCK. Used to be a truck pull rig so there’s a good chance that it’s not in great shape. However, if it’s salvageable, this would be a cool resto project. I’d paint it light blue and keep everything stock.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I love the two tone on this C10. It even has an indent in the rear wheel well for a spare, which I’d definitely take advantage of for some extra “vintage cool” points.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

A $3000 “rat rod” - it’s probably so rusty that you can see the driveshaft through the footwells, but who cares!! Isn’t that the point? This thing is awesome.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Nobody will make small, durable trucks like this ever again. I have no doubt that clean eighties Japanese trucks will be annoyingly expensive sometime soon. Grab one while you can! I like the Mazda rotary pickups best, but this Datsun is still pretty cool.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Seriously what the fuck? A Brazilian military vehicle for sale on Cragslist? I think this is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen. Definitely unusual though.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Here’s your classic hauler!! Ferry your junk around Roadkill style with this beast and have a blast doing it. That straight six must be HUGE.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

A Willys truck! I didn’t even know they made these. TIL

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Suburbans have been on the road for decades, and this is my favorite generation. No barn doors on this one but still! LOOK AT IT. You could host a house party in that interior. It’s HUGE. I love the paint scheme too.

My brother-in-law just got a new Taco with Manuel riding along. And that ‘63 F250 is right up my alley.

I love that willy’s pickup. That could be something that would make me one day sell my just-purchased 1961 Ford F100 (a 4 speed manual, 4wd beast).

Not Just any Ferd, a 1993 RWD Ranger with a 4.0 V6 (165hp, 225 lb ft) and a 3.55 LSD. But hopefully by next summer it’ll have a 5.0 and a T-5.

Kinja'd!!!

So Im gonna have to say goodbye to the bus shifter in the name of 220hp and 8 cylinders.

Gaaaaaahhh! I just got off of my old truck kick, I need to actually work on the one I have,

Kinja'd!!!

but I so desperately want another one that I can actually drive in the meantime. The wife shot me down on buying a (4th) pickup though so I bought my 924 instead as a “gas saver”. Don’t get me wrong, I love the 924, but I would much rather have a classic truck, gas prices be damned.

That’s a nice selection you posted there, I shed a little tear at that 52 Ford though. Also, major CP, if it’s an original Marmon 4x4 conversion that’s pretty rare, but the rest of the truck doesn’t justify the price.

Haha, I’ve been looking for years for something like that ‘61, and it had to be close to me in New Hampshire, which is a lot to ask. There were some good ones in that list of yours... I will say that Fords 67-up kind of feel like normal “trucks” to me, while the 66-earlier are something of a different era. I mean, the ‘72 was a different feel, for sure, but it mostly felt like an old F150 which it is. The ‘61 is very different. In all good ways.

The day is near, where full size trucks with a clutch pedal will be no more, the only one left in the new market is the ram w/cummins at a low starting price of $40xxx, and the used market is thin, enjoy it boys, hard times ahead
